Bella Habuda is a member of the Vardar U18 ECNL Team and has played with the club for over seven years starting with Vardar when she was just 10 years old.
In addition to being a goal contributor to any Vardar squad (Bella is age eligible to play with the U17 ECNL team as well), Bella has achieved many accolades as a member of the Canadian NTC program where she played for the U17 Canadian team in Trinidad and Tobago as a high school sophomore. She was named the 2013 Windsor Essex Sports Player of the Year and while playing high school soccer won the Golden Boot Award as a freshman.
As a Vardar player in the ECNL league, Bella enjoys playing the best competition. “ECNL is great for playing against top competition and getting scouted by top colleges across the U.S.,” Bella said. “ECNL helps you to strive to be the best player you can be.”
Bella added that she committed to University of Louisville in her junior year of high school. “Playing for Vardar helped me get exposure to top notch colleges because we play in the top league in the U.S.,” she said. “I visited many colleges that were interested in me as a player and narrowed it down based on their soccer program, academics and their conference.”
In addition to her club and high school soccer accomplishments, Bella has made the honor roll in her high school for four consecutive years.
And her advice to younger girls looking to excel in this sport – Bella said, “I would encourage younger girls to work on ball skills on and off the field, in their spare time. Playing in a lot of 3v3 tournaments helped me a lot when I was younger, getting touches on the ball, moving without the ball and learning how to do give and go's. I remember it being so much fun and there was no pressure, just playing with your friends.”
Bella said her best memory of Vardar is the close relationship to her teammates. “They are like part of my family,” she said.
